REGULATIONS FOR INTERNATIONAL GRADUATED DENTIST LICENSING TO PRACTIVE DENTISTRY IN THAILAND

REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSURE

In accordance with section 31 the Dental Act B.E. 2537 (1993), the license to practice Dentistry in Thailand shall be granted to international graduated dentists, if he or she:

1. is a member of the Dental Council. To be eligible for membership admission of the Dental Council, the person must possess the following qualifications:
a. not less than twenty years of age
b. possess a dental degree or certificate which is accredited by the Dental Council.
c. possess no record of misconduct which is considered by the Dental Council as a dishonour to the profession.
d. has never been sentenced to imprisonment by committing a crime which is considered by the Dental Council as a dishonour to the profession.
e. not suffering from a mental disorder or other disease (s) considered by the Dental Council as inappropriate for the practice of Dentistry.

2. furnishes, in a manner satisfactory to the Dentistry, a diploma or certificate from an accredited institution recognized by the Dental Council and a license to practice Dentistry in the country he or she has completed the Dental Degree

3. has successfully passed the Examination conducted by the Dental Licensing Board.

THE LICENSING EXAMINATION

The examination has three parts :-
part 1 Written Examination of Basic Biomedical Science
part 2 Written Examination of Clinical Science
part 3 Clinical examination
An applicant has to pass both part 1 and part 2 before he or she is eligible for part 3. All the examination will be conducted in Thai

Date of Examination

Part 1 Part 2 and Part 3 shall be held at least once a year.

FILLING THE APPLICATION

1. FOR MEMBERSHIP OF THE DENTAL COUNCIL
The applicant shall fill an application form for membership admission provided by Dental Council. The application form duly filled must be accompanied by:-
a. the original diploma or certificate, together with a photocopy of his or her qualification. If the document is not in English, a certified translation is required.
b. Two recent photos (1 inch) of the applicant.
c. One photocopy of the household registration (Permanent Residence certificate) from the Ministry of Interior, Thailand.
d. A document from the authority or Police department to certify the applicant from any charges or conviction in the criminal and civil cases.

2. FOR LICENSING EXAMINATION
The applicant shall fill an application form provided by the Dental Council.
The application form duly filled must be submitted to the Dental Council not later than 3 month before the Examination schedule and accompanied by :-
a. the original diploma or certificate, together with a photocopy of his qualification and Transcript
b. the original household registration (Permanent Residence certificate) from the Ministry of Interior, Thailand, together with a photocopy.
c. Two recent photos (1 inch) of the applicant.
d. One photocopy of unexpired I.D. card or passport,
e. The original license to practice Dentistry in the country where he or she has completed his or her Dental Degree together with a photocopy.
f. The original health certificate from the government hospital and one photocopy.
If the documents are not in English, a certified translation is required.

ADMISSION TO examination

1. The dental Licensing Board of the dental Council reserves the right to make additional training investigations of the education, character and standing of the applicant.
2. The Secretary-General of the Dental Council will inform the applicant if he or she is eligible for the examination. In formations regarding the date, venue place, and subjects of the examination shall be informed to eligible applicants.
3. The Examination is conducted in Thai


THE EXAMINATION FEE

2,000 Baht

REMARKS

1. Application will be rejected if the original documents have not been shown.
2. The applicant has to certify each photocopy by signing his or her name on it.
3. The applicants pays the examination fee for the part that he is eligible to take.
4. The Dental Council reserves the right to change the examination fee without prior notice.
5. The examination fee shall not be refund in any case.
